•      Typically, today (April 1) is all about you, how W+K was founded, the legend of the worlds greatest agency. But hate to break it to you— this April Fools’—it’s about me.

    I noticed there’s no job posting for "Junior Creative named Walter obsessed with W+K." Strange. Maybe an oversight? A typo? An April Fools joke? Or perhaps you're just waiting for someone bold enough to recreate your 30th 25th anniversary book (which is extremely hard to find) and take an unbearably vulnerable step into the unknown to get your attention.

    Well, good news: that someone is me.

Ik zag dat er geen vacature is voor "Junior Creative genaamd Walter, geobsedeerd door W+K." Vreemd. Misschien een vergissing? Een typefout? Een April Fools-grap? Of misschien wachten jullie gewoon op iemand die brutaal genoeg is om jullie 30e jubileumboek opnieuw te maken (wat bijna onmogelijk te vinden is) en een ondraaglijk kwetsbare stap in het onbekende zet om jullie aandacht te krijgen.

Goed nieuws: die persoon ben ik.

「Walterという名前の、W+Kに夢中なジュニアクリエイティブ」という求人がないことに気づきました。おかしいですね。これは単なる見落とし?タイプミス?エイプリルフールのジョーク?それとも、もしかして30周年記念ブックを(ほぼ見つからないのに)再制作し、信じられないほど大胆で脆く、それでも未知へ飛び込む覚悟のある誰か を、密かに待っているんじゃないですか?

朗報です。その誰かは、俺です。

My grandmother, an extraordinary badass, credits her escape from concentration camps to this:

"It’s better to know a little bit of everything than to be an expert at one thing —because together, they can build something that might save your life."

For years, that just felt like a loving way of her saying, “You’re all over the place.”

Somewhere in the hallways of advertising school, I heard a creative director say that a true creative person wants to be a know-it-all. They want to know about all kinds of things— the hierarchy of a floral arrangement, what makes the smell of rain smell like rain, or how could Tony Hawk skateboard over the McDonald’s golden arches.
That’s when it clicked.
Creativity is just extreme connect-the-dots, and no one plays the game better than W+K.

So here I am, a professional dot collector, ready to make something wild, weird, and wonderful with you. Ready to contribute to a legacy —unless this whole “we were founded on April 1” was an April Fools’ joke, in which case… well played.
